Agatha Christie is the writer who first got me hooked on cozy mysteries. โ˜ ๏ธ I imagine the same is true for many of you as well. This week, I’m sharing five of my favorite British cozy mysteries and series in an Ode to Agatha, because nothing is quite as idyllic as the English countryside…with the exception of all the murders, of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you have favorite British cozy mystery books or series that have captured your attention? Let me know in the comments!

Shivani Sherman says:

Mrs. Jeffries mysteries are my favourite! I am a big fan. Nothing better than curling up in a big cozy blanket with a big cup of green mint tea and one of these cozy mysteries on a cold winter weekend.

Carol Attrux says:

Hi Ellie! Thank you for the recommendations! I am a new subscriber from Canada. I have watched an Agatha Raisin episode on Acorn and have enjoyed it very much! ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Laurie White says:

Loved your suggestions! I am reading the Royal Spyness Mystery Series by Rhys Bowen. Truly enjoying the series!

siobhansbookcorner says:

I wanted to try a different genre and just downloaded Meet your Baker from amazon and then stumbled across this video so now i have another bunch of books to add to my TBR

Britain on a Budget says:

These are such great series! I think my personal favorite right now is Jennifer Ashleyโ€™s Kat Holloway series. I think I like them so much because of the lovely cast of characters. Itโ€™s a bit upstairs downstairs meets the Victorian mystery ๐Ÿ™‚

Veronica Thomas says:

These look fantastic. Thank you!!

Sharon Redgrave says:

First off—Dr Who, in the David Tennant era, did an episode that is one of my favorites! It's called the Unicorn and the Wasp. It is an episode completely modeled not only on how Agatha's books were written (with all the suspects confined in the manor's library at the end!), but it also includes the real life mystery of why Agatha herself went missing for a few days, and turned up at a hotel, not knowing where she'd been for 2 days! The Lord Peter Whimsey novels by Dorothy Sayers are my favs–SO English!

serependity100 says:

Great recommendations! Love the Agatha Christie mysteries too. I read the Vicky Bliss series by Elizabeth Peters and loved these books. I've been meaning to read the Frances Brody mysteries. I started reading Carola Dunn just before we went to the LCC in Vancouver. She was sitting at a table nest to our table. My favorite British cozy mysteries include Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear, Her Royal Spyness and the Constable Evans series by Rhys Bowen, the W.I.S.E. detective series by Cathy Ace, Maggie Hope by Susan Elia Macneal, the Gemma and Duncan mysteries by Deborah Crombie and the Potting Garden series by Marty Wingate. I am now adding Mrs. Jeffries to my reading list.

Javakatt says:

Thank you, Ellie! These all sound fabulous! Iโ€™m definitely going to put them on my reading list.โค๏ธ
