You may know her from Castlevania, or Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust! The Countess Carmilla Karnstein was the central vampire character from J. Sheridan LeFanu’s novella “Carmilla,” published 20 years before Dracula. Carmilla not only influenced Dracula, but she is the prototype of the vampire seductress, as well as an early lesbian character from gothic literature, making her screen debut in Hammer Films’ “The Vampire Lovers.” In this video, we go over who she was, where her story came from, what her powers were, who she fed on, and how you can use her in your own vampire project! All in this first episode of a new series called VAMPIRES BEFORE DRACULA!
