I recently read three hyped horror novels and this is what happened. I’m still fairly new to the horror genre, I freaking love it but I just haven’t read a whole lot of it. I’ve read mostly Stephen King for horror so far, and there’s a few other horror books I’ve liked here and there, but I want to get more into horror. If you have any recommendations for me, please let me know! Also if you like this type of reading vlog where I read three books in the same genre back to back and vlog it, let me know if there’s any other genre you’d like to see me do this for 🙂
Books read:
-The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires
-The Troop
-N0S4A2

I just finished and holy shit. Like I flipped once it became clear what Shelley was gonna be doing the rest of the book. Like, bruh. Not only do they have to avoid getting infected, they're also chilling with a serial killer in training?!?!!?
Just a heads up, "The Troop" audiobook is on sale for 3.99 on chirp…. along with "The southern book clubs guide to killing vampires" for 1.99!!!!
Title is pronounced "Nosferatu" in case anyone wants to know
I would suggest dead of night series by Jonathan Maberry. I would probably classify it more as suspense but it is technically horror too.
You probably figured this out by now but NOS4A2 – Nosferatu is a famous vampire classic based on Bram Stoker's Dracula
I wish I could reread the troop with no memory of it
Gabby, you should read “The House Next Door” by Anne Rivers Siddons. It is the only horror ever written by this author. It’s an oldie but goodie.
I read the troop and I’m hoping I can reach that same satisfaction with other horror books. I’m not someone to be squeamish but I still liked to read those parts. The only part that really got to me was the kitten scene especially since the whole book played out easily like a movie in my head.
THE TROOP AND The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires WERE SO GOOD!!! GABBY GREAT PICKS! IM READING A GOOD MARRIAGE NOW!
I just finished im thinking of ending things which gave me sleeping paralysis idk maybe its been a long time Ive read this kind of book. Trying to settle things out with Behind her eyes. After this ill read the troop, will it be a bad idea? Hmmm. Im so excited to read it!!! Thank you for this!
License: Nos fer ah two.
I love your channel! Please do more horror books. I also want to get into this type of genre. By the way what type of glasses do you have, I see they are Rayban but what style? Please let me know! Thank you!
I want to venture more into thrillers and eventually horrors, but for now, I live it vicariously through you haha.
Have you read brother by ania Ahlborn (I think that’s his last name)? OMG that book is up your alley. It’s so disturbing! I highly recommend you check it out. I just added the troop to my cart.
Love your reading vlogs!! I am so going to read The Troop after watching this video!!! Thank you!!
Nosferatu is a vampire
I love watching your videos and horror and thrillers are my favorite genre. I have The Troop and that last book you read on my TBR, super excited for the Troop not so much NOS4A2. Please do another one of these books. My favorite thriller I have read is No Exit! So good!
Great reading vlog. It's awesome seeing your horror reading journey. Great picks for your first horror center vlog. I really enjoyed The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. It's made me feel all the emotions. Love Grady's writing. Check out My Best Friend's Exorcist if you like his writing. Really loved that one also by him.
The Troop was so disturbing and I loved it. It made me feel so uncomfortable. His book The Deep is also really creepy. It's more of aquatic horror. Really enjoyed his writting.
Yeah one thing about Joe Hill writing is a hit or a miss. I enjoyed N0S4A2 but it's not for everyone. The name of the book is a play on the classic vampire Nosferatu of the silent film. Maybe you will enjoy Heart-Shape box by him. Really enjoyed that one more and was super creepy. A lot of people say his best work is Locke & Key his graphic novel series. I really enjoyed it. Very unique.
If you want to give Joe Hill another try, I recommend Heart Shaped Box. I absolutely love that book, so much that I re-read it every couple years. I don’t think any of his other novels measure up, though his short story collection, 20th Century Ghosts has some definite bright spots.
This is a still from the 1922 movie Nosferatu. It's the inspiration for Manx. https://bloody-disgusting.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Nosferatu.jpg
Stephen King characters make cameos in Joe's books. It's REALLY fun.
Okay Troop is going on my TBR list for next month.
I read NOS4A2 on audio and I know I would have DNF’ed had it not been on audio. That being said I did ultimately enjoy it and gave it 3 stars.
I did not find the Troop scary at all.
