A review for the fourth Boxcar Children book. The Boxcar Children learn they have a new relative: Aunt Jane! Jane is a bedridden woman, who is starving a maid to death, despite the fact that she has absolutely no physical control over the maid whatsoever.

The girls visit Aunt Jane, and she instantly morphs from mean old lady to nice person. She’s SO nice, she gives the ranch to the Boxcar Children.

What about the mystery, you ask? It is an awful mystery. At no point do we meet the culprits, and a random stranger solves the mystery, by pure coincidence. This all happens offscreen, so readers don’t get to see it.

My score for this book is a 1 out of 10. It made me stop reading the series as a kid, and after re-reading it, I can’t blame Kid Michael for making that decision.
